Grandma&Grandpa Jones have been the highlight of DJ's life these past four weeks. He loves them!!!
Little things he's learned:
(i) Grandpa comes running. In the mornings when I fail to wrestle myself out of sleep and respond to his pleas -- he'll call out a few times, "mamma! mamma! mamma!" but before long he senses it's a lost cause -- he'll distinctly shout, "Grandpa!!" And he *shouts* knowing he has to make his voice heard all the way in the living room.
(ii) Grandma's good for chocolate and other tasty sweets. Moreover, everything she has is desireable from her glass of water to her multitude of books -- Grandma makes everything look good. Importantly, she gives him everthing he wants.
(iii) Grandma&Grandpa love to dance. I walked in on them one morning, the three of them, totally jigging out to that old Jimmy Buffet song, "Margarettaville ." Grandma&Grandpa were side by side and Desi was across the room facing them and they were grinning and laughing at each other -- dancing and swinging their arms&hips. Hysterical!
Grandpa bought him his first action figures on Saturday, I think they're The Incredibles or something, anyway there are 5 of them all different colors and he calls them his "guys". They're pretty flimsy and he's broken most of the limbs off (Grandpa, of course, has tried to put or glue them back together) but I think they may be useful in the airport/on the plane. So I plan on hiding them tonight so they'll still be novel by Saturday night.
Grandma&Grandpa take him out at least twice daily either on walks around the neighborhood or to the parks/playgrounds. He's become better at holding hands consequently and learning when to stop at intersections. He's even watched the light a coupla time and told Grandpa when to go!
We've been so thrilled to have Grandma&Grandpa Jones with us for this past month. Desi has missed his Dada but has found new love in his Grandparents.
