Throughout our train ride he is usually making friends -- he says "Hi!" confidently and frequently and follows up by waving and smiling. I love going places with him -- we meet people! I love how he opens up the city, knocks us out of our solitary little orbits and gets us circulating. I've made at least one friend this way and I think she and I will be exchanging phone numbers the next time we meet on the train. We've found we have a lot in common. I love that! This city is full of interesting people and I'm glad for Desmond who sees that too and calls out to them.
